IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY ITEMS I CAN SCHEDULE FOR PICK-UP?
Residential Customers (Lowell or Newburyport): There is a 10 piece per pick-up limit.
Business Customers: There is no limit.
I DON’T LIVE IN A TOWN THAT IS SERVICED BY UTEC MATTRESS RECYCLING. CAN I DROP OFF MY MATTRESS AT YOUR FACILITY?
Yes. Residential customers may schedule a drop-off in advance by calling our call center number, 978-856-3997. All drop-offs must be paid for before they are brought to our mattress facility, and you must present a receipt. We do not give out the address for our facility until we receive payment.
Hours for drop-off are generally 7:30am-2:30pm, Monday-Thursday.
DO I NEED TO BE HOME FOR THE PICK-UP?
No. Mattresses should be placed curbside or within site of the street by 9:30AM the morning of the pick-up. The UTEC Mattress Recycling crew will pick up the mattresses or box springs before 4:00PM. Similar to the way trash is collected, it is expected that the items are not placed in the street or walkway prior to your collection date. Our crew is prohibited from entering homes or apartments to pick up mattresses.
WHEN DO MATTRESS PICK-UPS OCCUR?
In Lowell, mattresses are collected every Wednesday between 9:30am and 4pm. In Newburyport, pickups occur on a monthly basis. Please contact us at 978-856-3997 for the next pick-up date in your location or your local town office.

Don’t see your town/city mentioned? Contact your local DPW and ask how mattresses and box springs are recycled in your area or book a drop-off at our mattress facility in Lawrence.

WILL UTEC MATTRESS RECYCLING PICK UP OTHER ITEMS LIKE COUCHES, FUTONS, AND APPLIANCES?
No. UTEC will only pick-up standard mattresses and box springs. Consult with your town to determine who picks up these other items.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING HOLIDAYS OR BAD WEATHER?
UTEC does not schedule pick-ups on Holidays. Severe weather or other unforeseen events may force us to curtail or move pick-up dates. In this occurrence, customers will be contacted and are expected to retrieve items from the street/walkway until a new collection date is confirmed.
ARE THE UTEC YOUTH PAID FOR THEIR WORK?
Yes. Young people working in our enterprises are paid the equivalent of minimum wage for their work.
